Hello All!!
My name is Alene Brunkhurst, obviously =] It is pronounced Uhh-lean... and I only tell you this because pretty much everyone pronounces it incorrectly! Right now I am a senior in high school at Cedar Crest (in Lebanon, PA), and am involved in running and a few clubs at school. I am a very friendly person, and I enjoy meeting all types of people. I have a crazy family....! One brother (Wayne), one stepsister (Logan), one stepbrother (Ryan), Mom (Betty), Dad (Bray), and stepmom (Tracie). I love being outside, and taking photos--mostly of people and of the sky.
When I was a sophomore, I read a book called "Kaffir Boy." It depicted the life of a native South African during the apartheid. Since then I have been interested in the culture and history of South Africa. Reading this book emphasized my interest in one day traveling to Africa. So... that's how it all started!
By September, I'll be there... how crazy! I'm so thankful that I have been given this chance to do something that I really have a deep desire to do. God has really challenged my through this process, and I feel that I'm becoming stronger in my relationship with Him as time goes on. I can't wait to see what this trip will bring for those I will be meeting in South Africa and Swaziland and what it will bring for our team! It's going to be the experience of a lifetime.
So, if you're reading this, keep me and my team in your prayers as we all prepare for this adventure. Please let me know if you have any needed prayers as well!
Alene=]
